MWPP: 103 MW to be added to national power grid

Minister of Power Dullas Alahapperuma says before the end of this year, another 103 mega watts of electricity will be added to the national power grid through wind power.
The Minister made these remarks while speaking at an observational tour of the Mannar Wind Power Project (MWPP), the first and largest wind farm of its kind to be built in the island.
He noted the construction of the country’s largest hydro power generation plant was a turning point in the country’s power generation history, adding accordingly that 70 years later the construction of a large scale wind power generation plant will be yet another turning point in Lankan history.
The subject Minister said engineers expect that a total of 103 mega watts will be added to the national grid, within the next three months.
