Night mail trains to halt operations from today

Sri Lanka Railways says all night mail trains will halt operations until further notice from today.
Speaking to NewsRadio Secretary of the Locomotive Engine Operators’ Union Indika Dodangoda said all night mail trains commencing journey or plying towards Fort, Colombo will suspend operations while several other train journeys on the schedule have also been suspended.
The decision was reached due to the imposition of curfew in Fort, Colombo from 6pm today.
However Dodangoda said three daily trains plying along the coastal line from Matara, Galle and Beliatta will travel up to Colpetty for general commuters while several special trains have been allocated for the convenience of students sitting the Advanced Level Examination.
Indika Dodangoda added no trains will be plying along the main railway line, Kelani Valley line and the Chilaw-Puttalam line for general commuters.
He further stated special trains will operate along the relevant lines till the conclusion of the A/Level Exam.
