Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says no disappearances or murders were reported under the present government.

Speaking at a function in Ranala the Prime Minister said the public has been able to live in freedom free of fear of being kidnapped or murdered.

The Premier said the present government has ensured a democratic environment, stating that he is being criticised across all media outlets daily, while pointing out that he has not retaliated to a single personal attack.

The Prime Minister also noted that the government has ensured the independence of the judiciary, the Right to Information, appointed several Independent Commissions, established the Office of Missing Persons and the Office of Repatriation of Persons among other bodies and institutions.

Pointing out to a white van culture in the past, Premier Wickremesinghe said the government brought an end to all such incidents.

The Prime Minister also noted that the government has ensured an environment where the public can protest and raise their objections freely.

The Premier meanwhile questioned whether those involved would seek forgiveness for past sins, including those related to Prageeth Ekneligoda, Lasantha Wickrematunge and Nadarajah Raviraj.
