‘One centre needed to provide COVID-data’

The Government Medical Officers Association has requested the government to create a mechanism to disseminate information pertaining to COVID-19 from one centre.
Vice President of the GMOA Dr. Chandika Epitakaduwa speaking at a media briefing said the lack of such a mechanism has inconvenienced the public.
He reiterated the need for centralised dissemination of information adding that at present data is being issued from various groups, pertaining to coronavirus cases, deaths and quarantine information.
Dr. Chandika Epitakaduwa also charged that there is a delay in issuing health guidelines pertaining to the COVID-19 vaccination drive.
He noted that medical professionals are able to execute their duties duly with the availability of such guidelines.
Dr. Epitakaduwa called for a technical committee to reach important decisions.
