The opposition has raised a number of concerns pertaining to the on-going 2020 Lanka Premier League tournament.
Speaking in Parliament today, MP Thushara Indunil Amarasena said several issues have arisen pertaining to the tournament including the quarantine procedure for overseas players and staff. MP Amarasena also claimed that the person who has been appointed as the LPL tournament director is an individual who is accused of match fixing.
He said the matter was raised by former Test captain Arjuna Ranatunga but no response has been given by the Sports Minister thus far.
MP Thushara Indunil Amarasena noted that a Dubai-based company secured the broadcast rights for the tournament but according to reports no payments have been made thus far to the cricket board.
He added even the selection process of players, coaches and commentators are questionable with some commentators becoming coaches after arriving in the country.
MP Amarasena said the government must explained to the public the real motive behind hosting the tournament.
