The Sri Lanka Transport Board says over 700 buses have been deployed to safely transport children to schools.

When inquired by NewsRadio SLTB Deputy General Manager Panduka Swarnahansa said as schools have reopened, 746 buses will accordingly be utilized across the island to safely transport school children according to transport policy methodology, while ensuring strict health safety measures are adhered to.

He noted therefore that the service is currently operating in all areas with the exception of the Western Province and areas under isolation.

Swarnahansa further noted the SLTB is prepared to take steps to deploy additional buses, if buses in some areas or for certain schools are over the capacity limit.
