Parliament heated over Ranjan Ramanayake

Parliament proceedings were adjourned for five minutes this morning after a tense situation broke out over Ranjan Ramanayake’s seat in Parliament.
The proceedings of the House began with the Speaker making a statement on Ranjan Ramanayake.
Members of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya representing Parliament were also seen clad in black armbands in protest to the decision over Ranjan Ramanayake.
Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa taking the floor said Ramanayake’s removal from the House is the result of a conspiracy.
However, a heated situation broke out especially between former Speaker, Minister Chamal Rajapaksa and Parliamentarian Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka.
MP Fonseka said Speaker of House at the time Chamal Rajapaksa did not allow him to enter Parliament in 2010 owing to a Court proceeding.
A heated exchange then followed leading to a five-minute adjournment.
