Parliament wants all staff tested for COVID-19

PCR test results of several associates of a Police officer deployed on duty at the Parliament premises who tested positive for COVID-19, are due to be released today.

Sergeant-at-arms Narendra Fernando speaking to NewsRadio said the Police officer was identified as a close associate of the employee of the Parliament canteen who was earlier identified as a COVID-19 patient.

PCR tests are due to be conducted tomorrow on several others who came into close contact with the infected Police officer.

Additionally, the Sergeant-at-arms said a letter will be directed to the Secretary to the Ministry of Health pertaining to conducting PCR tests on all members of staff of Parliament.
