PM calls for report from the IGP on the TID DIG

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has called for a report regarding the Deputy Inspector General of the Terrorist Investigation Division Nalaka de Silva.

Speaking to NewsRadio Police Media Spokesman Superintendent of Police Ruwan Gunasekara said the Prime Minister called for a report from Inspector General of Police Pujith Jayasundara.

Meanwhile the IGP ordered further investigations to be handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department.

Yesterday the IGP issued directives to the Police Special Investigations Unit to launch an investigation pertaining to accusations levelled at Nalaka de Silva.

Operations Director of the Anti-Corruption Force Namal Kumara at a recent media briefing charged that the DIG of the TID engaged in a controversial conspiracy.

The Operations Director also released several voice recordings of phone conversations of DIG Nalaka Silva.

Accordingly the Police Special Investigations Division was instructed to launch investigations.
