A special discussion between Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and trade union representatives of the Colombo Port engaged in a strike action commenced at 8 this morning.
The discussion is underway at the Carlton House in Tangalle.
The strike launched by trade unions at the Colombo Port is continuing for the third day today.
The employees are demanding a written statement by the government prior to the General Election that the East Terminal of the Colombo Port must be brought under the purview of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority.
Member of the Trade Union Collective for the Protection of the East Terminal Prasanna Kalutarage said the strike action will continue until a favourable solution is provided to their demands.
