President Gotabaya Rajapaksa says he has directed attention to providing prompt resolutions to issues faced by trade unions.

Speaking at a discussion held with trade union representatives at the President’s official residence, the Head of State stressed that the government is committed to ensuring an efficient state service, regardless of challenges imposed by a small minority.

President Rajapaksa said he expects all trade unions to initiate conceptual changes that contribute to the betterment of the people, instead of unions simply engaging in traditional trade union activity.

The President’s media division stated that Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and a group of Ministers also attended the discussion.
