President instructs PCs to review security

President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed all Governors to review security measures of respective provinces with the participation of all Provincial Council Chief Ministers in the country, despite terms of several PCs having lapsed.

The President instructed all district and regional secretaries to maintain a safe and peaceful environment, together with security units, in order to ensure peace and normalcy.

President Maithripala Sirisena had issued these instructions on Sunday at the security committee meeting held in Galle prior to leaving for China.

President Sirisena has also highlighted the need to maintain a peaceful environment in the country at provincial levels.

The President expressed the importance of aligning the Police, Tri-Forces and political authorities as well as religious leaders over the matter.

The President meanwhile expressed the importance of carrying out long term plan in order to ensure peace and cooperation between all communities, adding that decisions, orders and regulations reached during the security committee meeting are of great importance.
