‘President to make policy statement on Nov. 14th’

The United Peoples Freedom Alliance today claimed that President Maithripala Sirisena will deliver a policy statement on the 14th of this month, when Parliament reconvenes for a new session.

Speaking during a media briefing held in Colombo today, Parliamentarian WDJ Seneviratne said the ceremonial sitting will conclude without any other business in the house.

He said the Speaker of House will then consult the leaders of Political parties, to decide on an agenda for future sittings.

Seneviratne added when Parliament reconvenes on the 14th of this month, the President will deliver his policy statement, following which Parliament will be adjourned.

He noted following consultation with party leaders, the Speaker of House will then decide on future dates to convene Parliament and the agenda for the next sittings of the House.

Parliamentarian WDJ Seneviratne added that appointments of new Ministers have not adversely affected day to day activities at state offices.

The MP said they observed that day to day activities at state offices have not been affected due to the present political climate claiming this change of guard has not affected government offices.
