The United National Party says the country’s forward path has been derailed by the President’s action on the 26th of October.
Parliamentarian Sujeewa Senasinghe said the President must respect the mandate given by 6.2 million voters.
MP Senasinghe noted United National Party supporters voted for the President and not to elect Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Prime Minister.
He stressed if the President had concerns there were ways to solve them adding that’s how one should engage in politics.
The Parliamentarian claimed due to the decision made by the President the country is in economic turmoil and is humiliated by the international community while experiencing an economic downfall.
MP Senasinghe said it will take a long time to regain the image created of the country internationally throughout the past years adding the country is now seen as a confused state and it sends out a dangerous message.
