Protocol to be formulated to reopen BIA

A committee has been appointed to formulate initial measures and healthy safety guidelines to reopen the airport according to healthy safety regulations and revitalise the tourism industry.

The joint committee consists of officials of the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Tourism and representatives of the tourism sector.

A discussion was held on the matter by Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Minister of State Minister of Primary Health Services, Pandemics and COVID Prevention and Minister of Tourism Prasanna Ranatunga at the Ministry of Health.

A number of senior officials from the Epidemiology Unit, Airport and Aviation Services Sri Lanka, Tourism Development Authority, Hoteliers and Ministry of Tourism were present at the meeting.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Health accordingly said further measures will be taken to allow foreign tourists to visit Sri Lanka according to decisions reached by the committee
