Returnee from the UAE tests COVID-19 positive

The number of novel coronavirus cases confirmed in the country has increased to 3,350.

The Department of Government Information said a returnee from the United Arab Emirates, who was undergoing quarantine, tested positive for the virus today.

129 COVID-19 patients including 16 foreign nationals continue to receive treatment while 40 suspected cases are under medical observation.

Earlier today another 22 persons were discharged after recovering from COVID-19.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said COVID-19 recoveries increased to 3,208.

Accordingly, seven individuals were discharged from the Welikanda Base Hospital while five each were discharged from the National Institute of Infectious Diseases and the Iranawila Hospital.

Four individuals were also discharged from the Hambantota District General Hospital while another individual was discharged from the Colombo East Base Hospital during the past 24 hours.
