Rs.134M found in Easter terrorists bank accounts

The Criminal Investigation Department says Rs.134 million has been found collectively from the bank accounts of those involved in the Easter Sunday attacks.

Director, Senior Superintendent of Police Shani Abeysekera speaking to NewsRadio said the bank accounts of the suspects have been sealed on Court orders.

Property worth Rs.1 Billion belonging to Zahran Hashim and several others has also been seized.

SSP Abeysekera said 63 arrested suspects remain in the custody of the CID while claiming that 90% of suspects with ties to Zahran Hashim have been arrested.

Meanwhile a report has been submitted to the Acting Inspector General of Police by the Criminal Investigations Department on the actions of the Deputy Inspector General of Police and the SP of the Kurunegala Police Division regarding the doctor of the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital.

The report indicates that the two Senior Police officers violated the code of conduct during investigations.

Police Media Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekera said further action will be taken by the Acting IGP based on the content of the report.
