Services at Fort Police Station resumes

Services at the Colombo, Fort Police Station that were suspended temporarily, have resumed after being disinfected.
Services were suspended temporarily after a Police Inspector attached to the Western Province Special Investigations Unit, located in the Colombo Fort Police Station premises, tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday.
Acting Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the Police Station was disinfected today after all officers were removed from the premises.
He added thereafter the Colombo, Fort Police Station resumed operations according to quarantine regulations.
DIG Rohana said officers were deployed on special duty at the Colombo, Fort Police Station, from other Police Stations.
Services of the Fort Police Station were temporarily carried out by the Pettah and Slave Island Police Stations this morning.
The DIG earlier said eight close associates of the Police Inspector were directed to quarantine, while 48 Police officers of the Police Station were quarantined at the station.
He noted other officers attached to the Police station were directed to quarantine at their barracks and dormitories.
