Shani Abeysekera’s FR to be heard on 31st March

The Supreme Court today ordered that the Fundamental Rights petition filed by Former Director of the Criminal Investigations Department SSP Shani Abeysekera to be taken up for consideration on the 31st of March.
The petition was taken up for consideration before justice Buwaneka Aluwihare, Janak de Silva and Yasantha Kodagoda.
SSP Shani Abeysekera filed a petition claiming he has been held in custody without a justifiable reason.
The attorney representing the former CID Director informed Court today that another petition has been filed calling for security to be provided when SSP Shani Abeysekera is being escorted outside of prison.
NewsRadio Court correspondent said the Attorney General requested the petition to also be taken up on the 31st of March.
