‘Pillayan’ & 4 others granted bail over 2005 murder

Parliamentarian Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias ‘Pillayan’ and four others who were in remand custody have been granted bail over the case pertaining to the murder of the late Parliamentarian Joseph Pararajasingham.

The Batticaloa High Court released the five individuals on two surety bails of Rs.100,000 each.

MP Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, was imprisoned in 2015 over the murder of the former Tamil National Alliance MP Pararajasingham.

‘Pillayan’ was named as the chief suspect in the murder.

Pararajasingham was shot while attending a Christmas mass in 2005 at the St. Mary’s Church in Batticaloa.
