SL crosses 7,000 COVID-19 cases; another 256 detected

Sri Lanka crossed 7,000 coronavirus positive cases with the detection of 256 new patients.

Earlier 609 individuals linked to the Minuwangoda coronavirus cluster tested positive.

Accordingly 865 patients have been detected thus far today, recording the highest number of cases in a single day.

COVID-19 infections recorded in the country accordingly increases to 7,153.

Of the 865 cases 535 were identified form the Peliyagoda fish market, 257 associates, 48 persons in quarantine centres, 20 individuals from the Beruwala Fisheries Harbour and five from the Galle Fisheries Harbour.

The Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda cluster accordingly increases to 3,682.

3,495 active cases are currently being treated for the virus in hospitals.

83 individuals who contracted the coronavirus were earlier discharged after recovering from the coronavirus during the past 24-hours.

The number of recoveries in the country accordingly increased to 3,644.

426 persons suspected to have contracted the virus are also under observation.
