The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna says the party should consider whether the Sri Lanka Freedom Party can be counted as trustworthy.
Parliamentarian Dilum Amunugama noted the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna may face issues when forming an alliance with untrustworthy individuals.
The Parliamentarian noted the group that previously agreed to vote against the second reading of the Budget avoided the vote.
MP Amunugama meanwhile stressed the SLPP is thankful for the group of SLFPers who reminded that they cannot be trusted.
Speaking during the media briefing United People’s Freedom Alliance Parliamentarian Ranjith De Soysa said the Joint Opposition condemns the decisions by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party to abstain from voting during the vote on the second reading of the 2019 Budget.
He said a decision was reached during discussions with Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa to collectively defeat the second reading of the Budget and to vote in favour to pass the President’s expenditure heads.
