SLPP’s ties remain strong – Sagara
December 7, 2018
General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Attorney Sagara Kariyawasam says despite the ongoing political crisis within the island the political force backing the party will continue to forge ahead from strength to strength.
Speaking to NewsRadio Kariyawasam said claims that rifts have begun to arise among members of the SLPP are false.
He stressed the forces around thr group haven’t left, adding however it is clear to see that through social media and other means, supporters of the UNP are attempting to create a notion that there are internal conflicts within the SLPP, by claiming the forces supporting the group have reduced.
He remarked those who rallied with the SLPP, the people including civil organisations, and clergy remain their allies now more than ever.
He said they are of the view that the Podujana Peramuna is the only force that can bring a positive change to the country.
Sagara Kariyawasam stressed the only solution to the prevailing instability is to hold a general election and form a stable government.
He said the Podujana Peramuna, the public and organisations are all echoing the same call, adding the group hopes the Supreme Court will grant the necessary order to hold a general election.
