The Centre for Monitoring Elections Violence has requested Chief of Minister of the Southern Province, to take action against all politicians involved with drug kingpin ‘Makandure Madush’.
One of the most wanted criminals of Sri Lanka, ‘Makandure Madush’ and 24 others were reportedly arrested with drugs while attending a party at a hotel in Dubai on the 4th of this month.
According to Middle Eastern media reports a Southern Province politician was also amongst those arrested in Dubai. Accordingly in a letter, National Coordinator of the CMEV, Manjula Gajanayake has requested Southern Chief Minister Shan Wijayalal De Silva to take action against the said individual.
However identities of those arrested with a group of drug dealers have not be revealed to the media thus far.
Meanwhile, Police and the government have commenced discussions with authorities in the United Arab Emirates to extradite the group.
