Sri Lanka confirms 9,000 COVID-19 cases

The number of COVID-19 cases confirmed in Sri Lanka has surpassed the 9,000-mark following the detection of 211 patients today.

Accordingly, the number of coronavirus infections reported in the country is currently at 9,081.

The Department of Government Information said 211 new cases include 202 persons identified as close contacts of COVID-19 patients and nine infections from quarantine centres.

Accordingly, the Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda cluster has increased to 5,607.

Meanwhile, earlier today coronavirus recoveries in Sri Lanka rose to 4,075 after 32 individuals were discharged from hospitals.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 4,987 patients including 12 foreign nationals are currently receiving treatment for coronavirus at 37 medical facilities across the country.

432 suspected COVID-19 cases are also under medical observation at present.
