Sri Lanka crosses 50,000 COVID cases mark

Total coronavirus cases recorded in Sri Lanka crossed the 50,000 mark today.
Another 378 cases were detected today, bringing total cases identified within the day to 687, therefore raising the country’s caseload to 50,224.
Meanwhile another 646 people who contracted COVID-19 recovered and were discharged from hospitals today, raising total recoveries recorded thus far in the island to 43,267.
Accordingly 7,050 active cases, including one foreign national, are presently undergoing medical treatment for coronavirus at treatment facilities across the island.
653 individuals currently remain under observation on suspicion of having contracted COVID-19.
The country’s death toll from the virus stands at 244.
