Sri Lanka confirms 6,000 COVID-19 cases

Sri Lanka crossed 6,000 coronavirus cases today with the detection of 50 new infections.

More than 2,500 COVID-19 positive cases have been recorded in the country since the Minuwangoda coronavirus cluster emerged on the 4th of October.

Among today’s COVID-19 cases were 22 employees of two factories within the Katunayake Free Trade Zone, 22 associates of Minuwangoda factory workers and six persons from the Peliyagoda Fish Market.

Accordingly, the Minuwangoda coronavirus cluster increases to 2,558. The number of infections recorded in the country rose to 6,028.

Earlier 60 individuals infected with the coronavirus recovered and were discharged raising COVID-19 recoveries to 3,561.

Accordingly, 2,454 COVID-19 patients including 14 foreign nationals are currently receiving medical treatment for coronavirus at 23 hospitals across the country.

341 suspected coronavirus cases are also under medical observation.
