Sri Lanka & Pakistan discuss enhancing trade ties

Visiting Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan says his visit to Sri Lanka is focused on enhancing trade ties.

The Pakistan and Sri Lanka Prime Ministers today held bilateral discussions pertaining to several areas of mutual importance.

Addressing a joint media briefing following talks, the Pakistan Prime Minister extended an invitation to Premier Mahinda Rajapaksa to visit Pakistan. Imran Khan said Pakistan will focus on trade and connectivity between the two countries.

The Pakistan Premier also called on developed countries to do more to support poorer countries battling the coronavirus. 

 Also addressing the media briefing, Premier Rajapaksa said the two parties discussed several areas of importance including new bilateral ties.

Prime Minister Rajapaksa also highlighted the importance of regional peace and sustainability. 

Prime Minister Khan arrived in Sri Lanka this evening on a two-day state visit.

The visiting Pakistani Prime Minister will meet President Gotabaya Rajapaksa tomorrow morning and also hold several other high-level engagements tomorrow, including a Business and Investment Forum, as well as a sports diplomacy initiative.
