Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 cases tally surpasses 10,000

Sri Lanka’s coronavirus cases tally has surpassed the 10,000-mark following the detection of 314 patients today.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said the total number of COVID-19 infections since January, now stands at 10,105.

The Epidemiology Unit said 259 cases linked to the COVID-19 Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda cluster tested positive today while 55 cases were identified from quarantine centres.

Meanwhile the Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda COVID-19 cluster increased to 6,627.

Earlier 140 individuals who contracted COVID-19 were discharged during the past 24 hours after recovering raising recoveries to 4,282.

Accordingly, 5,804 individuals are currently being treated for the virus at 39 hospitals.

444 individuals suspected to have contracted the virus are under medical observation.
