Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 caseload increases to 23,484

Another 173 more COVID-19 cases have been detected, bringing the total number of infections confirmed in the country to 23,484.
The Department of Government Information said 496 COVID-19 cases were identified today and all new infections are linked to the Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda cluster.
Accordingly, the Minuwangoda cluster first emerged on the 4th of October has increased to 19,946.
The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 6,373 individuals are currently receiving treatment at 56 facilities across the country.
Meanwhile, earlier today, 346 COVID-19 patients who recovered were discharged from hospitals, increasing the number of recoveries in Sri Lanka to 17,002.
498 individuals suspected to have contracted the virus are under medical observation.
109 COVID-19 related deaths have also been confirmed in the country thus far.
