Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 cases tally hits 140,000

Sri Lanka today hit another grim COVID-19 milestone by confirming the 140,000th coronavirus case.

Following the detection of another 585 COVID-19 cases, the number of confirmed infections has risen to 140,456.

Accordingly, 2,371 coronavirus cases have been detected in Sri Lanka today.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 22,315 persons are currently receiving treatment for coronavirus at several facilities across the country.

Earlier today, 1,352 persons who recovered from COVID-19 were discharged from hospitals, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 117,220.

1,182 suspected COVID-19 cases are also under medical observation at present.
