Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 death toll increases to 94

The coronavirus death toll in the country rose to 94 yesterday with the confirmation of four virus related deaths.

The Director General of Health Services confirmed said one individual was identified as a 74 year old male from Ginigathhena, who was transferred from the prison hospital to the Ragama Teaching Hospital where he died on Sunday.

The Government Information Department said the cause of death was multiple organ failure due to infection caused by diarrhea with COVID-19 infection.

The second deceased was identified as a 54 year old male from Siyambalape South. He passed away on Sunday at the Colombo National Hospital.

The cause of death was determined as chronic kidney disease exacerbated due to COVID-19.

A 73 year old female from Colombo 15 was also among the victims. She tested positive for COVID-19 and was transferred from the Colombo National Hospital to the Homagama Base Hospital where she passed away yesterday.

The cause of death was determined as a stroke and coronavirus pneumonia.

Another victim was identified as 42 year old male from Atulugama, Bandaragama. He was transferred from the Panadura Base Hospital, to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases where he passed away yesterday.

The cause of death was determined as exacerbation of a chronic liver with COVID-19 infection and encephalitis.
