Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 tally increases to 19,537

Another 257 COVID-19 cases were identified today, increasing the number of infections confirmed in Sri Lanka to 19,537.

The Department of Government Information said today’s new cases have been identified as close contacts of the Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster.

Accordingly, the Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda COVID-19 cluster has increased to 16,022.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 5,873 persons including 12 foreign nationals are currently receiving treatment for COVID-19 at 56 facilities across the country.

Earlier today, another 319 persons who contracted the novel coronavirus recovered and were discharged from hospitals, increasing the number of COVID-19 recoveries in Sri Lanka to 13,590.

480 suspected COVID-19 cases are also under medical observation at present.
