Drugs-carrying boat seized in Southern seas

A stock of 60 kilograms of materiel suspected to be of a form of narcotics, has been seized by the Sri Lanka Navy in seas of Galle.
The Navy in a statement said the un-flagged boat was also taken into custody by the officers attached to the Southern Naval Command. The boat has now been anchored at the Galle habour.
Two boats carrying banned drugs from Karachi, Pakistan to Sri Lanka were intercepted by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard yesterday.
The capture comes after the India Narcotics Control Bureau shared information of two boats carrying banned drugs from Karachi to Sri Lanka.
Accordingly an investigation is underway to determine the links between the two seizures.
