Talks with PM and port trade unions a success

Discussions this morning between the Prime Minister and port trade unions has been a success.

The Chairman of the Nidahas Sevaka Sangamaya of the Port Authority Prasanna Kalutarage when contacted by NewsRadio said a final decision on calling off the strike action is yet to be reached.

23 Port trade unions engaged in a strike action over four days demanding a written assurance from the President that the East Terminal of the Colombo Port will be vested under the Sri Lanka Ports Authority.

The trade union representatives engaged in talks with Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa at his Carlton House in Tangalle.

Kalutarage said the members who attended the talks will reach Colombo and hold discussions with all trade union members and reach a final decision.
