Two more COVID deaths confirmed in Sri Lanka

Two COVID-19 related fatalities have been recorded in the country, increasing the death toll to 620.

The Department of Government Information said a 58-year-old female from Mahawa who was transferred to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital from the Galgamuwa District Hospital after being identified as a COVID-19 patient, passed away on Saturday.

The cause of death was reported as severe acute respiratory distress syndrome due to COVID pneumonia.

An 84-year-old male from Marassana who was transferred to the Teldeniya Base Hospital from the Kandy National Hospital after being identified as a COVID-19 patient, succumbed to the virus yesterday.

The cause of death was reported as severe COVID pneumonia in the background of diabetes mellitus, hypertension, dyslipidaemia and heart failure.
