Acting Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana says an additional notice will be displayed in addition to the quarantine notice put up outside homes that are undergoing quarantine measures.
Speaking to media today the DIG reiterated that individuals directed to quarantine, must remain at home at all times adding that they can leave homes only in the event of other medical requirements.
The DIG stated that the additional notice is being put up outside homes, under powers vested with the Acting Inspector General of Police by the Director General of Health Services according to the Quarantine and Prevention of Diseases Ordinance.
He noted that the second notice will include important contact details, such as area Police, Public Health Inspectors, medical officers of health and the Army, who can be contacted in the event of emergencies.
DIG Ajith Rohana said individuals found to be violating the regulations will face legal action while movable and immovable assets will be seized or sealed.
On a separate note the DIG said coronavirus positive cases linked to the Peliyagoda fish market have travelled in public transport services, adding that identifying other commuters has become a difficult task.
He therefore urged private and Sri Lanka Transport Board owned buses to display a copy of the number plates inside buses for the convenience of the public.
He also urged the public to make note of the number plates when resorting to public transport services.
