Udayanga Weeratunga held at BIA by the CID

Former Sri Lanka Ambassador to Russia Udayanga Weeratunga has been taken into the custody of the Criminal Investigations Department at the Bandaranaike International Airport.
NewsRadio airport correspondent said he is currently being questioned.
He will be produced before the Fort Magistrate’s Court today.
A case is presently being heard against Weeratunga pertaining to the purchase of four MiG27 aircraft for the Sri Lanka Air Force in 2006.
Warrants for his arrest have also been issued while an Interpol red notice was also issued for him.
