Uninterrupted power supply despite COVID-19

The Ministry of Power says it has taken all measures to ensure an uninterrupted power supply to the country despite COVID-19 concerns.

Speaking to NewsRadio, Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board Vijitha Hearth said, additional staff have been deployed to curfew-imposed areas to carry-out maintenance activities and also to address any breakdowns.

Herath said the country is facing challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, adding that the CEB is also facing difficulties as workers at power plants are on shifts extending 24-hours and are quarantined on site.

Herath said the public can contact 1987 in the event of any breakdown adding that teams would be dispatched for repairs.
