Police say wedding ceremonies outside of the Western Province can be conducted under advice issued by health authorities.
Acting Police Media Spokesman Deputy Inspector General of Police Ajith Rohana said officials within the respective areas will determine the number of individuals that can attend the function.
He said Police have not imposed restrictions on weddings being conducted in areas where curfew is not imposed.
Furthermore, Police have decided to pursue legal action against individuals that proceeded to hold a wedding reception at a five-star hotel in Colombo 03, disregarding curfew regulations imposed in view of mitigating the spread of COVID-19.
The Acting Police Media Spokesman said strict action will be taken under the Quarantine and Prevention of Diseases Ordinance against the hotel management and event organisers who invited 35 guests for the wedding.
Statements are due to be recorded from the Directors of the Hotel.
