The People’s Movement for a Just Society says the President can now carry out an extensive investigation over the alleged assassination plot of VVIPs revealed by Namal Kumara.
Chairman of the Movement Professor Sarath Wijesuriya speaking at a conference in Colombo said the relevant investigations can be carried out promptly as the Sri Lanka Police is now under the President.
Wijesuriya questioned why the matter wasn’t been spoken of now, as the President now has the ability to carry out investigations that were neglected in the past.
He added such actions show President Maithripala Sirisena acted in an unethical manner against the law and violated the Constitution.
Professor Sarath Wijesuriya further said the President must be defeated with the public mandate as he has violated the Constitution.
He stated the President made a series of mistakes in an attempt to correct one mistake and created a crisis within the country.
Professor Wijesuriya stressed a decision must be made as to whether President Sirisena will be removed from state power by following legal procedures or through a public mandate.
Co-Convenor of the Purawesi Balaya Organization Gamini Viyangoda also addressing the event said a situation that is more dangerous than the situation prior to 2015 has arisen in the country at present.
Gamini Viyangoda said therefore President Maithripala Sirisena and Mahinda Rajapaksa must be defeated.
