Will pursue fresh new agenda – MS

President Maithripala Sirisena has reiterated he will continue to pursue his new programme and had reportedly sounded confident of claiming victory in Parliament.
President Sirisena has been under scrutiny following his sudden decision to appoint Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Prime Minister last month.
Speaking during the All-Island Central Committee meeting of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, the President said he will initiate a fresh agenda under the new administration.
General Secretary of the SLFP Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa speaking to NewsRadio said the President is also confident that the SLFP and the UPFA coalition will garner the support of the majority in Parliament.
He said the group discussed the prevailing political climate in the country adding the President was of the opinion that the party will be victorious in parliament.
Piyadasa stated the President said despite all obstacles and any moves by various factions to derail his plans, the party will claim the majority in parliament.
He remarked the President stressed he would not backtrack on his decision and forge ahead.
