AG appeals against Raviraj murder verdict

The Attorney General today filed an appeal requesting the verdict issued by the Colombo High Court pertaining to the murder case of former Tamil National Alliance Parliamentarian Nadarajah Raviraj be overturned.

The Attorney General requested that the verdict be overturned and that the case be taken up for hearing once again.

The verdict of the Nadarajah Raviraj murder case was delivered on the 24th of December last year.

The High Court acquitted and released the five suspects who were charged with the murder.

A unanimous decision was reached by a special seven-member jury at the Colombo High Court following which the verdict for release was issued.

Former TNA MP Nadarajah Raviraj was assassinated on the 10th of November 2006 in Narahenpita.
