General Secretary of the United Left Front, Attorney Lal Wijenayake says Presidential candidates Sajith Premadasa and Gotabaya Rajapaksa have not unlived any plans to resolve Sri Lanka’s economic turmoil.

Speaking at a media briefing in Kandy today, Attorney Lal Wijenayake noted that only Anura Kumara Dissanayake has addressed the issue of saving the country from the debt trap

Attorney Lal Wijenayake pointed out that the country is in an Economic turmoil, and added that Sri Lanka is stuck in a debt trap.

He noted that both candidates, who claim to be the main contenders continue claim that they will hand various benefits over what the other is willing to give.

The General Secretary questioned as to how the candidates could really give away benefits, when nobody has spoken about saving the country from the debt trap.

He claims that nobody points out at things like how loan instalments and interest exceed the state revenue.

However Lal Wijenayake added that the candidate of the National Movement for People’s Power Anura Kumara Dissanayake has addressed the issue of saving the country from the debt trap.

He further claimed that MP Dissanayake  was the only person who had made plans to develop the country in a way that it will generate enough revenue to pay off the instalments and interest.

Wijenayake commended the Parliamentarians opinion adding it is widely considered within the country.

Accordingly Lal Wijenayake noted that the country’s current direction set 71 years ago needs to change.

He concluded that the only person who has suggested to change this, is Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
