Do not protest against carrying out law – Arjuna

Minister of Ports and Shipping Arjuna Ranatunga says gathering the public to hold protests against the enactment of the law against wrongdoers sets a bad example for the country.

The Minister was addressing media at an event held in Baduragoda today.

Minister Ranathunga said it has been recently acknowledged that when anyone is subject to the law, individuals bring scores of people and cause unrest and turn it into a protest adding that this is a bad example.

The Minister said those charged with corruption and have cases being heard against them, are increasingly taking crowds with them to the police station and other investigatve bodies adding that the law should be implemented more sternly.
