Ranil & Sajith hold talks on several concerns

A special round of talks are underway amongst several members of the United National Party in order to solve conflicts within the party.

The discussion is underway at the party headquarters Sirikotha, under the patronage of party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa.

MP Premadasa is represented by MPs Ranjith Madduma Bandara, Kabir Hashim, Mangala Samaraweera and Malik Samarawickrama while Ranil Wickremesinghe is represented by MPs Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, John Amaratunga, Wajira Abeywardena and another.

UNP Parliamentarian Thushara Indunil Amarasena speaking to NewsRadio said all conflicts will be resolved at this discussion with final decisions expected to be reached.

The MP added they hope to commence their political journey for the General Election subsequently.

Meanwhile, a meeting took place between Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa and the United National Party Parliamentary Group this morning at the Parliamentary complex.

MP Amarasena commenting on the meeting this morning said, the future measures of the UNP-led alliance was discussed.

He claimed that a prevalent concern is the symbol of the alliance, with Ranil Wickremesinghe’s faction requesting the symbol of the elephant while the symbol of the heart has been registered by the Sajith Premadasa faction.

The MP said an anti-government campaign will be launched, that does not involve deals, but will instead focus on the people and their needs.
