Shantha Sisira Kumara remanded again

Puttalam District United National Party Parliamentarian Shantha Sisira Kumara, who was arrested for violating bail conditions, has been further remanded until next Tuesday.

The order was issued by Chilaw High Court Judge MI Fernando.

NewsRadio Court correspondent said the bail application filed by the MP was also rejected during today’s hearing.

However, a separate bail request made by Shantha Sisira Kumara counsels will be considered on the 21st of this month.

MP Shantha Kumara has been named as a suspect over an incident related to being in possession of firearms during an illegal gathering in 2004 in Chilaw.

He was released over the case on the 31st of March 2011.

However, he was arrested once again for violating a bail condition and was further remanded on a number of occasions.

The case will be taken up for hearing once again on the 6th of February.
