Pakistan’s opener Abid Ali, who became the first batsman to score a debut hundred in both Test and one-day international cricket, has dedicated his century to his daughter.

Speaking to media after the match, he said he played according to his plan, adding that senior player Babar Azam supported him and gave him confidence during the match.

Abid Ali said he will continue to perform in the future as well.

Yesterday, Abid Ali became the only male player in cricket history to score a hundred on both his ODI and Test debuts when he reached three figures on the final day of the Rawalpindi Test against Sri Lanka.

Former England women’s player Enid Bakewell who played 12 Tests between 1968 and 1979 was the first cricketer to start both their ODI and Test careers with a century.

Abid also scored a hundred on his ODI debut against Australia in Dubai earlier this year.
