Chandika Hathurusingha says he will remain with SLC

November 30, 2018

Sri Lanka Cricket says Head Coach Chandika Hathurusingha has informed the Board that he will continue to remain with Sri Lanka Cricket.

The SLC made this statement in a communiqué following media reports in the recent past that Chandika Hathurusingha had applied for the position of Head Coach of the West Indies Cricket Board.

SLC noted that Hathurusingha informed the Board that he has not applied for such a position and will continue to remain with Sri Lanka Cricket.

In the September window Head coach Stuart Law announced that he will resign as West Indies’ Head Coach after less than two years in the job.

His tenure ended following the tours to India in October and Bangladesh in November.

Meanwhile, former Sri Lanka fielding coach and interim Head Coach Nic Pothas is acting as the interim head coach of the West Indies Test team.

The Windies are currently taking on Bangladesh in a Test series while the West Indies Cricket Board has been actively looking for a permanent Head Coach to replace Australian Stuart Law.

Chandika Hathurusingha terminated his contract with Bangladesh before the end of his official term in December 2017 to take up the role with Sri Lanka Cricket.

Hathurusinghe considered as one of the best coaches in the world, re-joined Sri Lanka Cricket after previous stints as Head Coach of the Sri Lanka ‘A’ team and Shadow Coach of the National Team.

He also remains as an on-tour Selector of the national team. The Sri Lanka Test squad is slated to leave for New Zealand on the 4th of December for a full tour starting on the 15th of December.
