Newly appointed One Day International Captain Kusal Janith Perera says Sri Lanka should start playing fearless cricket going forward.
Speaking during a media briefing today, Captain Kusal Perera said the national team must revolutionize its approach to change its fortunes.
The new ODI skipper said National Selectors are keen on giving youngsters an opportunity targeting the 2023 World Cup and therefore left out the likes of Dimuth Karunaratne, Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal for the tour of Bangladesh.
Perera said all 18 players who are part of the touring party have a role to play and he is confident the squad has enough skills to challenge the Bangladesh outfit.
The ODI skipper said he expects the players to give their 100% to the team during the upcoming tour by making minor adjustments.
He said players cannot perform while worrying about their places in the team. While admitting the squad named for the Bangladesh tour is an inexperienced one, Kusal Perera said the team will aim to take a fearless approach to outshine the hosts during the ODI exchange later this month.
The national team led by Kusal Perera will leave for Bangladesh on the 16th of this month to play a three-match ODI series starting on the 23rd of May.
The series will be part of the International Cricket Council’s Super League tournament.
